DO THE LANGUAGE LEARNING CASSETTES/TAPES REALLY WORK?
I unequivocally wish to sense Spanish as well as we have paid for the course. So I’d similar to to know if they unequivocally work.

They will help you learn how the language sounds, and how to say things, but they only go so far in teaching you a language. To learn the language fully is VERY important, so you need to accompany the cassette with books (not just text-type books, but books you would enjoy reading for leisure as well), music, movies, and other types of learning methods. I currently use CD’s, music, movies, text, books (like “Spanish for Dummies” and “Spanish Among Amigos”), flash cards, and various other methods.
It’s also VERY important to put your language skills to use, and keep practicing. Sites like LiveMocha.com and MyLanguageExchange.com connect you with native speakers who help you practice speaking, and correct errors before they become a bad habit that you have to struggle to break.
If money is a problem, there are books/CD’s, etc. in most local libraries, and the Internet offers free language courses that can help you boost what you are learning from the cassettes, and also offers you a chance to put your skills to use with native speakers. If you really want to learn, blend as many methods as possible, and remember to use the cassettes a LOT…even if you are in the process of studying another subject, having it playing softly in the background can help your mind pick up on the lessons.
Language learning is hard, so keep at it and don’t give up, no matter how discouraging it seems. Good luck!
Like everything some do and some don’t. I think the best audio only course is the Pimsleur method. It’s an audio only method that focuses on conversational skills. You will learn to train your ear to understand natives (an essential part of early learning often overlooked by other methods), develop very good pronunciation and acquire the core structures and grammar of the language. I find that it does very well with new students as it is a real confidence builder. Their method is based on two concepts pioneered by Dr. Pimsleur, graduated recall and the principle of anticipation. It’s really the best method to get you conversing immediately. I like the fact that you can do it on the go, in your car, commuting, on your iPod, etc. You’ll find the best prices on amazon. Good luck.
Kinda a bit late to worry about it, now, isn’t it?
Yes, they CAN work, but a lot depends on the tapes you have bought and how YOU learn.
Personally, I find that if I am not writing the words, exercises, sentences down, then I don’t learn them well. That means that in ADDITION to tapes/audio courses, I have to devise something where I am writing in order for them to be of much use to me.
The fact that I know this through many years of studying languages, and having studied several languages, plus that I am trained as a teacher, means that I can devise a method for myself, using tapes/books/online resources.
So can you…it isn’t that difficult, you just have to figure out what works for YOU.
Yes they really do
However you must listen to them on a daily basis in order to have them work.
i am currently learning mandarin and i find the cds extremely helpful.mostly with pronounciation.
the more you hear it the more likely it will stick with you.
for example if ur teacher repeats hello and goodbye and thank you every day it will stick to you
Suerte! (good Luck)
