Not at all, it reminds me of Spanish, really close. Also, 16 hours inst bad. I am taking 18. So take it if you can handle it.
It’s more difficult than english as all italian verbs change according to number e genre, there’re many articles and lots of tenses but if you really want to learn it i’m sure you can do it!
In the European language bracket, Italian is very easy in regards to a native English speaker. Out of the primary European language groups, Romance, Germanic, Slavic, Uralic- Romance languages are no doubt the closest to English structure, even though English is a Germanic language.
Out of the Romance languages, there are Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, Romanian, Catalan and a few other minority languages.
Portuguese and French aren’t terribly phonetic which adds a certain level of difficulty in speaking and writing, although the notions French grammar is I’d say more simple than Italian’s, and closer to English.
Romanian is very close to Latin and retains a high level of difficulty.
Down to Spanish and Italian. Spanish grammar is more rigid than Italian, but as Americans (I assume) we are more wont to the occurrence of Spanish in our daily lives, which gives familiarity, but I still think Italian is easier.
So if you already have experience with it, you’ll definitely find it easier than other languages, because learning a language isn’t easy. But for Italian there are so many free options on the internet, like livemocha.com where you can connect with others and take lessons for free.

Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!

EGLI va
NOI andiamo
VOI andate
ESSI vanno
