Yes I am 47 and just got a degree in Accounting – magna *** laude (high honors). I had my doubts at first as I was at best an aveage student when I was younger. You will be surprise how much maturity makes you a better student.
I don’t know, but I’m not even 30 and I’ve been unemployed for almost 2 years now and can’t find a job. Check out some of my rejections here:http://www.lettersofrejection.com
Yes it is absolutely possible. The hardest thing will be to discipline yourself to reach your goals, especially if self-discipline is already a challenge for you. It sounds like this is something that you won’t be able to just float by on, so if you’re capable to seriously buckle down for a while, you can complete the course.
Well, everyone is different of course but, if you’re interested in this career, what have you got to lose? Most careers require ongoing learning anyway but, of course, starting anything new is more intense.
If you’re concerned, maybe you can talk with a counselor at the school you’re considering or there is an aptitude test for this career. I don’t think it’s necessary, per se, but it might help build your confidence.
Do you know anyone in the field? Can you talk to someone who is working at the job? This might help you gain a better understanding of what’s required and the challenges you’ll face.
If you know all this and are simply confronting the fear of starting something new, then just go for it. I’m the same general age and I feel no limits to what I can learn. . . assuming I have the time.
I’m sure you’ll be fine once you get going and you may even find that you can help the younger, less experienced, members of your group.
Good luck!
You are never too old to learn and try new things. I hope when I get older I can run a marathon.
Yes, absolutely. You’ll be fine. Us old dogs CAN learn new tricks, it just takes us a little longer. I learn new tricks all the time.
