OK, I do the reading over and over thing but then that probably means it is time to take another Adderall. lol
(and relax everyone, I have a diagnosis and Rx and everything)
Sit down and make a list of what you want to accomplish/learn and maybe if you can do X then you know it. Then jot down some steps to get you there. Read chapters 4 & 5, do questions 2-20, find an article on subject Y and compare it to your text (it always helps to have a second opinion on something). This should take no more than 5 minutes to make this list but now you have a game plan and something to hold yourself to.
You also know what to read after that paragraph so you mind just move on.
Have your working paper handy in front of you and a scratch piece for page numbers, references, interruptions (take out trash…so you can remember to do it later and not think about it now and not let it interrupt you).
You have to be in a quiet place.
The biggest barrier to studying for me is interruptions and distractions. If you can get rid of those two, you will probably be ok.
Have all materials you need handy.
I sometimes change my study place if I get bored with a subject or interruptions find me. Sometimes the change of scenery gives new life to something.
Mark a line through what you do and you will feel good about your progress and you will learn more when you are feeling good about your studying.
just sit in a room in silence make sure no one disturbs u make sure itz complete silence bcoz wen im disturbed i find it hard 2 concentrate again just keep focused on ur work
best of luck
Well whenever I study i just go over the main points of the selection. And i don’t listen to music I would get distracted. So I suggest that you try reading aloud and don’t rush but don’t read slow because you’ll start to read it over and over again. Hope this helps!!
yes
try to medidtate or
may be read the same paragraph again
and again
close ur book
and do maths and again go back to the next paragraph .
if u still have probs contact me
Back when I was in school, I used to read whatever it was that I had to read, then I would write down a little summary of what I read. You could also pick a friend or family member and tell them what you read about. So, doing this was what worked for me and helped me retain it too!
Good Luck!
I know exactly what you mean. sometimes i’m just not able to concentrate on the text i’m reading. I think it’ s very important not to be tired and to drink enough water, that often helps me.
i don’t think the music you’re listening to is disturbing you, you’re propably not really motivated and not interested in what you are reading, that could be the reason why you can’t concentrate on it.
Don’t allow yourself to become distracted by friends and fellow students and figure out your most productive times of the day.If you have trouble concentrating at a certain time, don’t get out your hardest subjects or your most complex project.If you do not understand the course material, try some innovative ways to learn it. Don’t just keep rereading the material in hopes that you will eventually understand it. You could ask your parents or friends for help.
It is also important for you to find your correct learning style. Websites are available that provide surveys to find out your style. That could help you a lot.
Many people have problems studding.
Some people study with friends and family.
like you said you must read the stuff more than was just to get it. some people study alone, with music, in park where it queit, there are endless possiblites here a just a few that have worked for me.
i personally dont study (just listening in class really well), but great ways of studying is to create flashcards or to make it fun. What I mean is to ask yourself questions about the paragraph your reading, or any other great way of learning things. Another thing to do is to speed read, which is read straight down or diagnal down the page, without reading every single word. Your mind fills in the blank. I highly recommend that you DONT DO THIS, as comprehension goes down.
listener is good learner
do you read things repetitively because you don’t understand them, or because you’re just not paying attention?
but, either way, when I study I listen to music and its not a problem, but you might differ. try studying without music and see if it gets any better
take breaks every 1/2 or 1 hour, that might help you concentrate
stay AWAY from any possible distractions
and try to take notes on whatever you’re reading
When I study I hate just reading pages, I’m so bored and it just doesn’t sink in, so I always make flashcards. They help so much. Just flip through them everyday for 15min. then you won’t be studying for hours the night before the test. They are also very useful because you don’t need someone to quiz you, you can quiz yourself. Good Luck!
this works for me.
get a study partner.
make yourself some good notes.
quiz each other.
i have found that by teaching some else, you will learn
easier than trying to learn by yourself.
try it. it works.
I do the same thing when I’m not really interested in what I’m reading. It may help to do an outline of the chapter as you read. It can help you stay focused on what each section is about.
CONCENTRATION IS THE KEY!!!
The art or practice of concentration,
no matter if studying biology or playing pool,
is to focus on the task at hand and eliminate distraction
We all have the ability to concentrate — sometimes. Think of the times when you were “lost” in something you enjoy: a sport, playing music, a good game, a movie. Total concentration.
But at other times,
* Your mind wanders from one thing to another
* Your worries distract you
* Outside distractions take you away before you know it
* The material is boring, difficult, and/or not interesting to you.
These tips may help: They involve
1. What you can control in your studies
2. Best practices
What you can control in your studies:
* “Here I study”
Get a dedicated space, chair, table, lighting and environment
Avoid your cellphone or telephone
Put up a sign to avoid being disturbed or interrupted
If you like music in the background, OK, but don’t let it be a distraction. (Research on productivity with music versus without music is inconclusive)
* Stick to a routine, efficient study schedule
Accommodate your day/nighttime energy levels
See our Guide on Setting goals and making a scheduling
* Focus
Before you begin studying, take a few minutes to summarize a few objectives, gather what you will need, and think of a general strategy of accomplishment
* Incentives
Create an incentive if necessary for successfully completing a task,
such as calling a friend, a food treat, a walk, etc.
For special projects such as term papers, design projects, long book reviews, set up a special incentive
* Change topics
Changing the subject you study every one to two hours for variety
* Vary your study activities
Alternate reading with more active learning exercises
If you have a lot of reading, try the SQ3R method
Ask yourself how you could increase your activity level while studying? Perhaps a group will be best? Creating study questions?
Ask your teacher for alternative strategies for learning. The more active your learning, the better.
* Take regular, scheduled breaks that fit you
Do something different from what you’ve been doing (e.g., walk around if you’ve been sitting), and in a different area
* Rewards
Give yourself a reward when you’ve completed a task
Best Practices:
*
You should notice improvement in a few days
But like any practice, there will be ups, levels, and downs:
*
It will benefit other activities you do!
every person is different…just make sure that your not hungry and have a good nutristous snack….just focus and remember
I want to be the best
