education service does do a lot of work with speech and language therapists, however so do social services.
Get in touch with your local council and they would be able to advice you on.
You also have the hearing centre in hospitals who help people of all ages, it could be deafness in children helping them get language skills or it could be working with people after a stroke and assisting them to get the most out of language.
There are a lot of things you can apply slt to.
Council would let you know on what they offer, education department through your local council, local hospitals and health visitor clinics can give you further advise.
it all depends on where you wish to apply your skills once you have finished.
good luck
Get onto the Education Department if you want to work with kids, Disability Services if you want to work with head cases, and old folks homes if you want to work with geriatrics.
